Das vierte Album der aus­tra­li­schen Sin­ger-Song­wri­te­rin Court­ney Bar­nett – ihr drit­tes hatte sie 2017 gemein­sam mit Kurt Vile ver­öf­fent­licht – erschien am 12. Novem­ber 2021 beim unab­hän­gi­gen New Yor­ker Plat­ten­la­bel Mom+Pop. Die redu­zierte Pro­duk­tion von Stella Moz­gawa (War­paint), die Bar­nett auch an den Per­cus­sions und zusätz­li­chen Instru­men­ten beglei­tet, gibt Bar­netts Stimme und Lyrics viel Raum, wodurch die emo­tio­nale Ehr­lich­keit des Albums beson­ders zur Gel­tung kommt. ​„Things Take Time, Take Time“ mar­kiert eine sanfte, aber den­noch prä­gnante Wei­ter­ent­wick­lung ihres Sounds. Die rauen Gitar­ren­riffs frü­he­rer Werke machen Platz für mini­ma­lis­ti­schere Arran­ge­ments und eine intro­spek­ti­vere, fast medi­ta­tive Stim­mung. Die zehn Songs schwel­gen in war­men Gitar­ren, ent­spann­ten Drum-Loops und einer locke­ren Lo-Fi-Ästhe­tik. ​„If I Don’t Hear From You Tonight“ ist dabei sicher einer der zugäng­lichs­ten und wärms­ten Songs des Albums. Mit einem ent­spann­ten Mid­tempo-Groove, luf­ti­gen Gitar­ren und sanf­ten Drums strahlt der Song eine läs­sige, ver­träumte Atmo­sphäre aus.
